150 guests and supporters of stem cell research witnessed the kindness and generosity of Michael DiScipio and Christine DiNapoli as they spoke about their struggles with nervous system disease at NSCI’s 3rd Annual Stem Cell Soiree, on July 9th, 2014 at Saratoga National Golf Club. Michael opened his to heart in earnest to give a voice to the true purpose of stem cell research. With tears and honesty Mike left us all wondering how we can help.
The tireless advocacy and collaboration of the DiNapoli Family, this year’s recipient of the NSCI Visionary Award, is fueled by their mother, Christine and her fight against Parkinson’s Disease. Christine is not letting disease shape her view. She with her family are determined to lead the charge of support for stem cell research.
Symbolically this year’s Stem Cell Soiree would have been her late husband Jim DiNapoli’s 70th birthday. With profound commitment to help find a cure for his wife’s disease, Christine stood in his place speaking passionately about forwarding the pace of stem cell research. Her son Jeff gave the entire room a strong message of thanks for everyone who showed up in support of his family and most importantly the mission of NSCI.
Guests of the Soiree enjoyed delicious food and drink and the beautiful setting of Saratoga National Golf Club. There was a stem cell viewing table allowing guests to look through a microscope and real stem cells. Entertainment was provided by Albany Symphony Orchestra Musicians.
Other special guests included, Heinrich Medicus, Paul Richter, Hon. Gerard Maney, Hon. Eugene Devine, Michele Puleo O’Hare, Bill Kahn and John Walsh. Featured speakers in addition to Mr.DiScipio and Mrs.DiNapoli included NSCI Scientific Director, Dr. Sally Temple, and NSCI Director of Translational Research, Dr. Jeffrey Stern.
