Tri Athlete and father of 14 year old Cole, Bill Nowak is a tireless advocate for stem cell research. His son suffers from a rare eye disease that will eventually cause him to go blind. For Bill the thought of this is what drives him to compete in triathlons to raise awareness of the disease and the potential cure that that potentially exists in stem cell research.
The Neural Stem Cell Institute is in the final stages of pre-clinical development for therapies for Macular Degeneration another blinding disease which is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. The possibility for a cure is imminent. And, the results of this research could also change the fate for Cole Nowak.
“Tri For Eyes calls for me to continue to complete in triathlons whenever I can to raise awareness and monies on behalf of Neural Stem Cell Institute (NSCI) and my son (Cole) who I love very much. who I love very much. Even though having already lost over 35% of his total vision and almost his entire night vision, Cole continues to bravely meet this challenge head-on. I will follow his attitude and continue to do these triathlons until a cure is found.” – Bill Nowak
On July 19, 2014, Bill will be competing in the Piseco Lake Triathlon (NY) as part of his on-going national campaign, Tri For Eyes, to raise awareness and monies to fund innovative stem cell-based therapies aimed at finding a cure for blinding eye diseases. Please consider making a contribution here to help find a cure. A father’s heart is breaking.
