University at Albany Foundation Award
Co-Founder of the Neural Stem Cell Institute Honored with Citizen Laureate Award
Rensselaer, NY — The University at Albany Foundation announced that Dr. Sally Temple, Co-Founder and Scientific Director of the Neural Stem Cell Institute, has been selected as a recipient of the 2010 Citizen Laureate Award. The Citizen Laureate Award recognizes outstanding leaders in business and industry, government and academics and is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the University at Albany Foundation.
“I feel so honored to be given such high praise from the University at Albany Foundation. The University has been wonderfully supportive of our mission, and we are grateful for this highlight recognizing our achievements” said Dr. Sally Temple.
At the Neural Stem Cell Institute, Dr. Temple works to further research on stem cells for nervous system applications and to translate this research into therapies for such diseases as age-related macular degeneration, Parkinson’s disease and Spinal Cord Injury.
Dr. Temple also holds positions at the University at Albany, Albany Medical College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a member of numerous boards including The New York Stem Cell Foundation, The International Society for Stem Cell Research and the Genetics Policy Institute.
Dr. Temple will be honored at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, NY on Wednesday, October 20th.
